GST impact: Apple iPhone, iPad & Mac prices slashed by up to 7.5 percent
From July 1, the new tax regime - Goods and Services Tax (GST) is introduced.
All mobile phones have attracted a 12 percent of GST, which makes most of the handsets by at least 4-5 percent expensive when compared to the pre-GST days. But, Apple has reduced retail prices of all its iPhone by 4 % to 7.5 % from July 1, as the Cupertino-based smartphone producer passed on benefits accrued from goods and services tax (GST) regime to consumers.
Apple considers India a crucial market for the iPhone, sales slowdown in its wider markets especially China, and has scaled up stakes into the country since the last several of years.
iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 7
Until now, iPhone 7 (256GB storage variant) was available at Rs 92,000 post-GST but is now up for sale on the website at Rs 85,400, which is approximately Rs 6,600 lesser. On the another hand, the iPhone 7 32GB and 128GB were first prepared at a price of Rs 72,000 & Rs 82,000 sequentially. Post GST, both the variants of the iPhone 7 are now ready for purchase at Rs 67,300 and Rs 76,200. iPhone 7 (32GB) got a price cut of up to Rs 4,700, while the price of 128GB variant is reduced by Rs 5,800.
iPhone 7 also gets a price cut with the new tax administration. The 32GB variant was earlier prepared at Rs 60,000, now with the coming of GST, the handset is developed at 56,200 INR. With that, iPhone 7 (32GB) gets a price cut of 3800 INR. On the other side, the 128GB and 256GB were developed at 70,000 INR and 80,000 INR. Now, both the models are prepared at Rs 65,200 and Rs 74,400. This means that iPhone 7 128GB and 256GB models get a price cut of Rs 4,800 and Rs 5,600 respectively.

iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone 6s
iPhone 6s Plus (32GB) was earlier developed at 60,000 INR, post-GST implementation the device is now possible at 56,100 INR, which means that the handset gets a price slashed by up to 3,900 INR. While on the other side, the 128GB storage variant of the iPhone 6s Plus was earlier developed at 70,000 INR, and now it comes at 65,000 INR.Now, iPhone 6s 32GB and 128GB are available at 46,900 INR and 55,900 INR individually. iPhone 6s with 32GB storage was earlier valued at 50,000 INR, while the 128GB variant was available at Rs 60,000.
iPhone SE
iPhone SE - 32GB and 128GB were developed in India at Rs 27,200 and Rs 37,200 swquentially. Now, after the GST, both the models get a price cut and are produced at 26,000 INR (32GB) and 35,000 INR (128GB).Apple.Inc has already started selling the "Made-in-India" iPhone SE in select retail outlets. "Apple is trading iPhone SE in India at picked stores. These phones were assembled in India on trial basis in limited quantities," an industry source told PTI.
So, you can own brand new iPhone with just 22k INR. If you wish to buy 1 then go for SE or Later to get better performance. iPhone SE has the same chip as it is in iPhone 6S
Apple iPad series
iPad (9.7-inch Wi-Fi) is available in three variants in India -- 32GB and 128GB which pre-GST were available at Rs 28,900 and Rs 36,900. After the price cut, both the iPad (9.7-inch) with 32GB is now available Rs 28,000 and while the 128Gb is ready at 35,700 INR. iPad mini 4 with 128GB Wi-Fi was earlier available at 34,900 INR after the price cut the device is available at 33,800 INR. While the iPad mini 4 (128GB Wi-Fi + Cellular) is now available at 44,500 INR, which was earlier priced at 45,900 INR.iPad Pro (10.5-inch 64GB) with Wi-Fi was earlier priced at 52,900 INR, 256GB was available at 60,900 INR, while the 512GB was priced at 76,900 INR, the devices are now available at 50,800 INR, 58,300 INR and 73,900 INR individually. iPad Pro also gets a price cut. iPad Pro (12.5-inch 64GB) was earlier valued at 65,900 INR, 256GB was available at 73,900 INR, and the 512GB was produced around 89,900 INR. After the price cut, the iPad Pro (12.5-inch) with 64GB is available at 63,500 INR, 256GB at 70,900 INR and 512GB variant at Rs 86,400.
Apple MacBook
MacBook Air with 128GB SSD is now available at 77,200 INR which was earlier available at 80,900 INR. While on the other hand, MacBook with 1.2GHz was earlier available at 1,09,900 INR and is now priced at 1,04,800 INR. MacBook (12.0-inch) with 1.3GHz after GST is priced at 1,28,700 INR, which was earlier priced at 1,34,900 INR. MacBook Pro (13.3-inch) prices also get slashed, which earlier was available at a starting price of 1,09,900 INR, is now ready to the consumers at a starting cost of 1,04,900 INR.
